Who are we?
Since 1992 we have been supplying archaeological services at the pre- and post-planning stages in South Wales, using experienced and skilled practitioners who can deliver on time and within budget.
We have contacts with all the essential professionals in our field of work and can assure appropriate quality.
We are members of the Chartered Institute for Archaeologists have and worked for Cadw, Welsh Water, the Environment Agency and Borough Councils, as well as institutional, commercial and private developers. Our projects have ranged from small house extensions to large industrial or infrastructure developments.
All the work is undertaken in accordance with the standards and guidelines of the Chartered Institute for Archaeologists, Cadw (Welsh Historic Monuments) and Historic England.

Our Director
Jean-Yves Robic MCIfA, is the director and principal consultant for Cardiff Archaeological Consultants and has an archaeology post-graduate degree from the University of Rennes (France). He has conducted extensive excavations and survey on the island of Ushant (now published) off the west coast of Brittany and specialises in the Iron Age and Roman periods. He has worked at Chepstow for Channel Archaeology and for Bridgend Council at ironworks at Bridgend and Maesteg. He was Project Officer for the Chepstow Flood Alleviation Scheme (2001) and the prehistoric and Roman site at Chepstow Newhouse Park (2007).
Since 2008, with Cardiff Archaeological Consultants, he has conducted all aspects of commercial archaeology in South Wales. Project areas include pre-planning guidance, archaeological desk based assessment, archaeological impact assessment and, historic building recording. He has directed or supervised evaluations, watching briefs and full-scale excavations on all types of sites and periods, including post-excavations work and publication. He is also a regular contributor to Archaeology in Wales and Morgannwg. The projects are conducted for institutional, commercial and private developers, Local Authorities and Cadw. All projects are monitored by the Welsh Archaeological Trusts or Cadw.
